对环境的可持续保护是霍尼韦尔长期以来的企业责任。EDA51所采用的所有材料均可回收再利用。在生产过程中,产品表面不需要喷涂油漆,直接采用注塑工艺体现塑胶本色,避免对生态环境造成破坏。充电底座完全兼容旧版本,客户在升级PDA终端后,可以重用现有的充电底座,而无需报废旧版本的充电底座以致造成浪费。同时,也节省了客户的成本。

项目团队主要由18名不同职能的全职新产品开发人员组成,包括(1)市场部的产品经理和销售代表,主要负责收集和整理用户需求,定义新产品设计需求等;(2)项目经理,主要负责管理项目进程和资源;(3)研发团队的结构工程师、材料工程师、打样工程师、测试工程师,主要负责产品的功能性设计、开模、打样和测试;(4)用户体验团队的工业设计师、工效学设计师、用户体验研究员,主要负责产品的外观设计、工效学设计、用户体验验证等;(5)认证工程师,主要负责产品的认证测试;(6)采购,主要负责原材料采购和供应商管理。
流程方法
我们采用了霍尼韦尔用户体验(HUE)和新产品开发(NPI)流程。霍尼韦尔用户体验(HUE)是我们公司的核心举措及关键流程计划之一,可帮助我们最好地了解客户的需求,并设计出符合需求的、直观的、愉悦的、有差异化的增值产品和服务。在本项目的以用户为中心的设计过程中,在这个项目中,我们在易用性评估,快速原型设计和触点设计方面做了很好的创意。

• 快速原型: 从粗糙模型到3D打印到CNC精细原型的迭代快速原型设计使得决策过程和产品开发过程更快
• 易用性评估:我们在产品实际应用场景中,对用户使用习惯进行观察和分析,对产品使用上的问题点和痛点逐个解决。基于用户评估和实地考察研究,由此定义出设计准则,确保最大化可用性和突破性创新设计。触点设计: 通过分析客户的使用习惯,优化使用方式。手持部分尺寸尽量变薄,覆盖更多的使用人群。例如,腕带附件不需要用户使用螺丝刀即可快速安装和固定。手柄附件的设计,在与手持终端装配后可以快速拆卸。
• 附件设计与评测:经过OVOC了解不同的使用场景的不同需求,设计了手柄,腕带,充电座等等不同的附件,改善了不同场景下产品长时间的使用带来的疲劳感,并且提高了产品在使用上的舒适度。

Social Impact
Nowadays, with the development of e-commerce, the logistics industry is developing rapidly. The general logistics cost in China will account for 20% of the total cost, which is much higher than the 10% of the US. How to efficiently collect, organize and track information has become a major pain points for e-commerce. The serious shortage of medical manpower in China's medical industry has seriously affected the efficiency of medical treatment. How to accurately apply medication to patients, and accurate, real-time, complete preservation of medical records is a common problem in the medical industry. EDA51's convenient and accurate data collection function greatly enhances the user's work efficiency, reduces work fatigue, and promotes the development of medical, retail, manufacturing, logistics, express delivery, municipal and other industries.
Sustainable environmental protection is Honeywell's long-standing corporate responsibility. All materials used in the EDA51 can be recycled. In the production process, the surface of the product does not need to be sprayed with paint, and the plastic color is directly used in the injection molding process to avoid damage to the ecological environment. The charging base is fully compatible with the old version. After upgrading the PDA terminal, the customer can reuse the existing charging base without scrapping the old version of the charging base, resulting in waste. At the same time, it also saves the cost of customers.

The project team is mainly composed of 18 full-time cross-function NPI (new product development) team members, including (1) Product Manager and Sales from Marketing Department, mainly responsible for collecting customer needs and defining new product design requirements; (2) Project Manager, mainly responsible for project process and resource management; (3) Mechanical Engineer, Material Engineer, Prototyping Engineer and Testing Engineer from R&D Department, mainly responsible for functional product design, molding, prototyping and testing; (4) Industrial Designer, Ergonomic Designer, User Experience Researcher from HUE (Honeywell User Experience) Department, mainly responsible for product appearance, ergonomics, user experience design and validation; (5) Certification Engineer, mainly responsible for product certification testing; (6) Sourcing Engineer, mainly responsible for material procurement and supplier management.
Flow
We have adopted the Honeywell User Experience (HUE) and New Product Development (NPI) processes. Honeywell User Experience (HUE) is one of our key process initiatives that help us best understand our customers' needs and design intuitive, desirable, differentiated, value-added products and services that meet these needs. In this user-centered design process, we have been very creative in this project for ease of use assessment, rapid prototyping and touch point design.
• OVOC Study: We adopted Honeywell’s observational voice of customer studies. In the early stage of the project, we visited many current and potential customers to understand the customers, their unmet needs and use cases, such as Hippo Fresh, RT-Mart, Beijing SHOUGANG Hospital, Wenzhou Maternal and Child Health Hospital, Shanghai ZHONGSHAN Hospital and so on.
• Rapid Prototyping: Iterative rapid prototyping from rough mockups to 3D printing to CNC fine prototyping was fully used, to facilitate the decision-making process and speed up the product development process.
• Ease of use assessment: We have done a large amount of work in observing and analyzing the real using scenarios, using habits in the field. Based on this, we defined the testing cases. Iterative user assessments in the lab and field real customer trials were done to ensure the maximum usability. In the actual application scenario of the product, we observe and analyze the user's usage habits, and solve the problem points and pain points of the product one by one. Based on user assessments and field trip studies, design criteria are defined to ensure maximum usability and breakthrough innovation. Contact design: Optimize usage by analyzing customer habits.
• Accessory design as touch points: Based on real using scenarios, different accessories were designed such as handles, wrist straps, charging seats, etc., which greatly reduced the hand fatigue caused by all day long use. The accessories can be quickly attached or disassembled intuitively.

With the wide introduction and upgrade of smart healthcare, smart logistics and warehousing systems, EDA51, as a consumable intelligent PDA (as medical or office consumables, it will be replaced by a new generation of products every three years or so), has a strong demand in the medical industry. EDA51 is based on the local supply chain, therefore reduced structural components, while achieved the same performance requirements, and is cost-effective. The revenue of Honeywell PDA products in the Chinese market will exceed 600 million RMB in the next three years. Many large medical institutions in China use Honeywell PDA, such as Shanghai HUASHAN Hospital, ZHONGSHAN Hospital, and Beijing SHOUGANG Hospital. Sales in other regions of the world such as Europe, South America, North America, etc., are even larger.
