Project is located in Chongqing Nanan District Cha Yuan New District, close to the subway station. The existing building has a total of 5 floors with 2 basement floors to make up a total construction area of 83199 square meters. B1 to L5 is remodeled for commercial shopping, while B2 is used as a carpark. By offering a unique retail experience through a diverse variety of atmospheres, the project seeks to be more than just a mall, but a destination place rooted in the community of Cha Yuan.

The Enchanted Garden offers its users a unique retail experience by curating a diverse variety of atmospheres contained within. The project seeks to go beyond its primary function as a place for commerce and consumption, but as an important social venue for gatherings, exchanges and sharing for its immediate community in Cha Yuan.

As a remodeling project, the design process was an exploration of value-adding the existing condition. The design successfully curates a diverse and unique retail experience despite minimal alterations to the structure of the existing building. It is envisaged that the project will set a new benchmark for how existing malls can be retrofitted and designed to become important social spaces for the community.

Cha Yuan is a new district in Chongqing that is planned to grow exponentially in the near future. As such there has been a huge influx of residential projects in the area. However, the development of Cha Yuan’s services and amenities to support this population growth has been lagging behind. With its convenient locale to the transport hub and its unique retail spaces, we believe the project is strategically poised to become a destination place and an important social hub for Cha Yuan’s community.

The team is made up of Singaporean design architects and local Chinese project architects, who work in close collaboration to provide design services and project delivery.

The team conducts research and site surveys before proposing various schemes to the client. Upon selection of the scheme, the team will then proceed to refine and develop the design further. Throughout the entire process, the team coordinates between the client, other design consultants (furniture, soft-fitting and lighting) and contractors to ensure a high level of project delivery.

The interior fit-out of the main public spaces has been completed and retail tenants have begun their interior fit-out. The design concept of the Enchanted Garden can already be experienced in the spaces of the mall.
