Alipay X1 is an intelligent device that uses palm print + palm vein biometric technology and can be used in various scenarios including, but not limited to online payment, access control identification, and passing through gates. This type of contactless recognition is safer and more hygienic. Additionally, when compared with traditional facial recognition, palm print recognition results are more accurate and friendly to user privacy.

There are 15 Alipay team members involved in this project, who are responsible for product market planning, product definition, hardware design, structure development, electronic control testing, procurement cost evaluation, supply chain management, business promotion and sales, etc. In the process of development, supplier resources joined to assume the role of product landing output, and successfully promoted the product landing

This project is an internal self-research project. In the early stage of design, the internal designers had a brainstorm to explore the highlights of product innovation and experience, optimize and define the product PRD for the product manager, and select and polish the plan from multiple aspects of product feasibility, cost and experience highlights with the product manager and structure research and development. In the later stage, the structure research and development team constantly polished the product details, from the feasibility and product strength to maximize the design experience highlights. The overall design and development process is reasonably flat, with clear division of labor and efficient output.

From project approval to design and delivery, it took 10 months, through the integrated design of hardware and software by each team. 1.8 million yuan was invested in research and development.

The palm recognition device is more secure, have higher recognition success rates and are more privacy friendly when compared to the facial recognition devices currently available on the market. Not only is X1 the first palm print recognition device in the industry and subsequently used for commercial purposes, but it is also the smallest in size and lowest in cost palm print recognition device on the market. With its strong adaptability and wide range of application scenarios, it could be widely used in the market, bringing more valuable services to businesses and users.
