Project Description
While oceans are being polluted, challenges of marine lives become even more serious. Meanwhile, a great number of marine aquariums have been built around the world to make commercial profits, which the two artists consider as a kind of provocation against the balance of the ecological environment. Therefore, they decided to collaborate on a work of art that would allow people to feel the deep ocean without destroying the ecological balance, showing people the beauty of it while urging them to protect. This interactive paper art installation is mainly presented with jellyfish swarms, integrating their color-changing figures in the sea into the immersive space. If you dive into the blue deep sea, the enchanting and unrestrained jellyfish swarms will get excited and glittering along with your movement. When the audience step into the immersive exhibition hall, the paper art jellyfish will be triggered to float and change colors as response to their positions. Step after step, they will feel the changes of the deep ocean.
User Value
Through combing traditional Chinese paper art with new media art, the artwork creates a deep-ocean immersive space. In an innovative way that does not damage oceanic resources, it presents audience with a multi-dimensional interactive experience of jellyfish floating in the remote deep ocean. While creating the ultimate sensory aesthetic for audience, it also conforms to the public's imagination of ocean, and their appeals for ecological protection and a more sustainable condition between human and environment.

This work breaks the stereotype of paper media in the public mind, endows it with stronger forms of expression and development potential, and explores new media art with its relatively single carrier at present. The attention and appeal to Marine ecology in this work also makes the public rethink the relationship between people and ocean life and seek for a more sustainable ecological view.
