商业表现
小牛电动 M1 系列于2015年4月21日发布,同期在京东众筹平台开启了为期20天的产品众筹活动,最终取得8176万元人民币的金额,名列全中国第一名,并且打破之前小牛电动 N1 创造的7202万人民币中国众筹记录。2016年末,小牛电动 M1 走向欧洲市场,在德国、意大利等欧洲国家开始销售,深受当地人喜爱。截止到2017年8月,小牛电动 M1 累计销量达8万台。

团队组织
整个项目从概念设计到油泥模型,再到小批量试产验证,最终推向市场,总共历时1年3个月,参与项目的团队人数达到56人。产品研发团队在华人传奇产品设计大师 Carl Liu 的带领下,从调研开始,连续4个多月奋战完成整套产品定义、外观设计、结构设计、电子设计等,同时快速导入生产体系,在最短的时间内整合供应链资源,保障整车安全性与完备性,并完成量产准备。随后产品在品牌市场团队的运作下,隆重发布,迅速引爆市场,在20天内完成8176万人民币众筹冠军的奇迹。

NIU M1 is the second innovative product launched by NIU Technology. Upholding our core value of high technology and design, we created this brand new electric scooter fit for the modern era. Our design and research and development team define the M1 as a more lightweight and intelligent electric scooter highly contrasting other similar products. With its consistent aerodynamic appearance, incorporating elements from automobiles, we came up with a well-rounded electric scooter catering to the mobility needs of the urban explorer. It is a new attitude that drives the new urban lifestyle.
User Value

A chic and trendy appearance lives up to urban explorers’ aesthetic expectations, a more linear and integrated body provides visual satisfaction. In addition, the smart experience is materialized to the fullest extent on the M1 which is equipped with functions only found on luxury cars, automatic steering, automatic headlight and smart applications, allowing riders to enjoy the high-tech experience. Business Performance
The NIU M1 Series was launched on April 21st 2015. During its 20-day period on JD’s Equity Crowdfunding platform, it obtained RMB81.76 million and broke NIU Technology’s own record of RMB72.02 million set by NIU N1. The M1 entered the European market in late 2016 and has been widely accepted by users in countries such as Germany and Italy. By August 2017, more than 80,000 units have been sold around the world.
Social Impact
Finding the appropriate transportation to keep up with the fast-paced urban lifestyle is a challenge we are all facing. Traffic congestion, inefficiency and parking have made commuting more and more time-consuming for car owners. Furthermore, fumes from fuel combustion pollutes metropolitan areas. An increasing number of youngsters and even celebrities has embraced NIU M1 as their preferred transportation with a view to improve efficiency and to reduce time and money spent on commuting. If the M1’s elegance is the main attraction for hipsters, its smart applications, automobile grade propulsion, lithium battery, precise control and mono suspension system capture their pursuit for perfection. The M1 is not merely a lithium powered scooter, it is a necessity for urban dwellers, a must-have accessory. The electric scooter has finally shed its dull mould and attained its own identity, meanwhile, becoming a perfectly suited means of transportation for people in Beijing, Shanghai and other cities.
Team Structure
It took a team of 56 members and 15 months for the M1 to reach the market from its conception. Under the leadership of legendary product designer Carl Liu, the R&D team spent more than 4 months to pin down the M1’s aesthetics, structural, and electronic system designs. The finalized concept quickly went into production. In the shortest time possible, we integrated the supply chain, ensured the M1’s safety and integrity and were ready for mass-production. With every team member’s effort and the work done by the branding team, the M1’s debut explode on the market and miraculously raised RMB81.76 from crowdfunding.

Project Investment
Under the leadership of legendary product designer Carl Liu, a professional team of 56 conceived the M1’s design and delivered sufficient number of units promptly while maintaining a high level of quality with an investment of RMB21 million and a total of 15 months.
Project Achievements
It would not be an overstatement to say that the NIU M1 has redefined the electric scooter. Never before has an electric scooter simultaneously been given the Red Dot Design Award, International Design Excellence Award(IDEA) and other global design awards. These awards are proof of professional critics’ approval for the M1. The explosive sales figures is assurance of users’ love for the M1, which is exactly the intention and the expectation of the entire team at NIU Technology. Being a lightweight scooter for one was of the utmost importance for the M1’s production. The M1’s characteristics of luxury, chicness and lightweight filled the originally empty slot in the market and solidified NIU technology’s core strategy of creating an exceptional product.
