Using State of the Art Technology, the Sonica Speaker listens to the room it is in and adjusts its sound output to create the best acoustic sound stage for that room. OPPO wanted to build on the success of its headphone ranges with a best in class speaker system. The design was to be created in a way that all form and materials compliment and enhance the sound quality rather than reduce it and take away from performance.

The unit was one of the only to use this type of state of the art room optimization, there are really no other products quite like the Sonica. The form is acoustically better than the competition, the materials have all been selected for their performance and its impact on the sound. Everything about this product has been designed to enhance and support the acoustics of the unit. The unit creates an audiophile experience with a domestic product.

When designing speakers, the internal volume of the speaker, size, shape, complexity etc. has a huge impact on the quality of the sound. With the Sonica speaker, we had a state of the art technology that would allow the unit to alter its performance based on the size, location and personal preferences within the room. In order to maximize that technology we also had to make sure the design didn't in any way reduce the sound of the unit. Everything from the back cabinet which was designed as a fluid curve (which means the internal volume avoids negative reflections) to the type of speaker mesh (which is acoustically invisible in this unit) were considered. The way the unit is assembled to make sealing it effective, the type of material to reduce acoustic/mechanic conversion of soundwaves
