The Venus Study Desk is an adjustable ergonomic desk designed to create good home learning space to help children develop good study habits.

Recently, due to the impact of the pandemic, most schools in China have begun to use online teaching, and the time for children to study at home has increased significantly. The Venus Study Desk is an adjustable ergonomic desk designed to create good home learning space to help children develop good study habits. Based on ergonomics, the Venus Study Desk is designed with a scientific desk height and desk tilting adjustment system. At the same time, the innovative design of the foldable winding handle and the tilting tabletop adjustment move the adjustment from the back side of the table to the front. This design helps users to adjust table height easily while remaining seated, greatly improving the user experience. Based on research, a scientific layout is designed for limited storage space on the table. A closed storage area is provided to decrease the interference and help kids to better concentrate. The design of the bookshelf and integrated cable conduit takes into account the reasonable placement and routing of electronic products such as screen and laptop, making online learning easier.

The Venus Study Desk is the most cost-effective product in the existing product line. It is made of high-quality materials and the most advanced lifting and tilting structure to bring users a brand-new experience. After launching on the market, it upgrades the main products in the existing product line and became the new main product. Based on past sales data, Venus’ sales are expected to account for 60% of the company’s total sales of similar products.

Venus Study Desk provides a cost-effective solution for Chinese families, helping users easily create a healthy learning environment at home. Chinese children are facing a heavy academic burden, and normally study at home for a relatively long time. Inappropriate tables and chairs may cause children to form unhealthy sitting habits, which may aggravate myopia and cause irreversible health problems such as scoliosis. Venus Study Desk is designed to help children develop good habits and helping parents create a healthy learning environment at home. It is mainly made of birch with environmentally friendly water-based paint surface treatment to accompany the healthy growth of children.

The team involves 4 major departments, more than 20 people. The marketing department puts forward product development needs, the R&D department conducts research and design development, the production department is responsible for manufacturing, and the branding department works on promotion. We specially invited Mr. Jin Changbao, the IF award judge, who has many years of user research and product design experience, serves as a project consultant to guide the product direction during the research and development process.

The aim of the table is to help children form good habits. To realize this goal, we visited large numbers of families in different cities to learn about parents’needs. We observed children study and paly around the table to find the existing problems. During this market research, a large amount of information about life and learning which is related to children is collected. With the support of a large amount of data, we are more daring to break through and innovate when designing the table.

The project lasted for 1 year, and 2 million was invested. Since the project was set up, we have visited 10 cities, 50 families, and did many iterative design and exploration. We also visited many different raw material producing places to look for suitable materials.

The aim of the design is to create a healthy environment for children’s study. Let children grow up happily. By return visit the children who has owned the table, we found that almost all of them can arrange their table and draw up a good plan for their learning and resting time independently. After happy and efficient study, children could have much more time to read books, play games and so on. To design each product, children’s requirements and consumers are both our considerations. Thus we use the highest requirements of design and control the lowest cost. We hope every child could own a suitable desk.
